PE Superstars in Year 1
This term in PE the children are developing their health and fitness skills. The children's learning goals are:
To identify why exercise is good for health.
identify and describe how their body feels before, during and after exercise.
To use equipment appropriately and move and land safely.
The fundamental physical skill focus for the last 3 weeks has been developing the children's static balancing skills. The children have demonstrated an understanding of what is needed to maintain a balance and how to change movements in a smooth and controlled manner.
The children have experienced the role of being the 'athlete' and the 'coach'. Working in pairs they practise the skill when they are the athlete, when they're the coach the aim is for the children to vocalise the relevant vocabulary to support the fundamental physical skill, and promote positive praise and encourage their 'athlete' to succeed.
